HISTORICAL MISSION

Maltese Aid was founded on 9th May 2002 by the Sovereign Military Order of St. John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta – the Czech Grand Priory as the sole founder. As a charitable and humanitarian organization of the Sovereign Military Order of St. John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta, it bases its activities on a continuous 900-year-old tradition of helping those who suffer. The essential activity of Maltese Aid is to help the needy on the territory of the Czech Republic. The mission of the Maltese Aid is expressed by the order’s motto: „Tuitio fidei et obsequium pauperum“ (Defence of Faith and Aid to the Needy). The Maltese Aid is an integral part of the oldest charitable organization in the world and as far as the modern humanitarian activities of the Order are concerned – present and working in more than 110 countries around the world – from North America through the Middle East to Australia. The members of the Order of Malta and profesionals and volunteers take care of the sick, the elderly and with people with disabilities.
